Jayne Hockley – Harpist

Jayne Hockley specialises in playing beautiful harp music at events such as weddings, corporate functions, birthday parties and funerals in and around Sydney. She plays a fine maple harp made by Tim Guster in South Australia. Jayne loves to share its rich, warm tone and plays a repertoire ranging from medieval to modern styles, with a focus on classical and Celtic music.

A graduate of the NSW Conservatorium of Music, Jayne’s performing experience includes orchestral work, recordings, television appearances, radio broadcasts, and high profile corporate and private functions.

Career highlights include being the solo guest artist of Victor Borge at the Sydney Opera House, and playing at the wedding ceremony of Bec Cartwright and Lleyton Hewitt, also in the Opera House.

The elegant look and heavenly sound of the harp makes it an ideal instrument for a church or garden wedding. Jayne is also very happy to play outside, as long as the harp can be positioned on level ground and in solid shade. She arrives to set up and tune her harp 45 minutes before the ceremony/service is due to begin, then she starts playing her own choice of classical and Celtic music 15 minutes beforehand. Jayne invites couples to choose music for the processional, the signing of the register, and the recessional. For church weddings there are often other times during the service where music is also appropriate.
